Sherwood Park Apartments For Rent

Moving to Sherwood Park?

A quiet, family-friendly community that forms the eastern border of Edmonton, Sherwood Park is slightly removed from the traffic and congestion of the city, with great schools and a population that tends to be quite well off. It’s a community fuelled by oil, that booms when the oil and gas industry is strong, but feels a little sleepy when the industry dives. It’s a great place to live if you work in or near Edmonton, but want some distance from the city, but still want to enjoy all of the services and shops that any good city offers.

Who lives in Sherwood Park?

Families with kids of all ages, and some seniors. The population here isn’t as diverse as what you’d find in Edmonton, but it’s a relatively friendly city with a strong sense of community and a good government.

What’s Sherwood Park’s culture?

Sherwood Park residents enjoy the outdoors, sports and a quieter life. Living in Northern Alberta can have its challenges: icy roads, bone-chilling blizzards and long drives no matter where you want to go. So, residents make the most of the summers by enjoying camping, fishing, quading and playing baseball. Explore Elk National Park, Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area which is criss-crossed with hiking trails, and Broadmoor Lake Park.

What is Sherwood Park’s housing market?

Most residents of Sherwood Park own their homes, but renting in this city is a breeze. While there aren’t a ton of rentals available, those that are tend to be newer, large and quite affordable. You’ll primarily find low-rise apartments and condos available for rent, and the odd detached house as well, if you look for long enough.

Typical housing type:

Detached single family homes, mid-rise apartments.

Tips for apartment hunting in Sherwood Park

Rentals in Sherwood Park are affordable, with prices that are generally lower than what you’ll find in Edmonton. Take your time to find the right place to call home by exploring Sherwood Park’s neighbourhoods and finding your perfect location.

Something you should know:

The west end of Sherwood Park is called Refinery Row – as in, oil refineries. A row of high-polluting structures form the border between Sherwood Park and Edmonton. Residents don’t mind, but it’s worth being aware that the proximity of this industrial area does affect the air quality.

Getting around in Sherwood Park

There are transit options in Sherwood Park, but buses don’t run as frequently, or provide as much coverage, as they do in the city. Most residents drive wherever they need to go. The city is connected by Anthony Henday Drive to the west, Highway 16 in the north, and Highway 21 to the east.

There’s a Walmart in town, and Sherwood Park Mall has a good selection of shops, with more options at Emerald Hills Shopping Centre along Highway 16.

Millennium Place Recreation Centre has great activities for everyone, including a fantastic swimming pool with waterslides and fountains for the kids, climbing structures, an ice skating rink, group fitness classes, and a skate park outside.
