There are also a number of cultural areas with stores, restaurants, and events geared to specific communities.

Have a heavy pocket book! Most people who live in North York have a high paying job in downtown Toronto, which is a good thing. The new developments of condos and luxury apartments in combination with the hot housing market has driven up the cost of renting.

Getting around in North York 

There are a lot of schools in the area, including York University and Seneca College. You’ll have no problems finding grocery stores, drug stores, and other staples. Green spaces are pretty easy to get to as well. For holidays, head over to Downsview Park. Looking for family-friendly entertainment? There’s everything from skating rinks to movie theatres to the Ontario Science Centre here. Plus the Toronto Zoo and Canada’s Wonderland are just a short hop away! There are a few museums, including the gorgeous Aga Khan. For shopping, Yorkdale is your best bet – and comes with a Costco across the highway from it.
